Visitors Want Fair to be Extended for a Week

ABU DHABI - Visitors to the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, want the organisers to extend the fair for another week for them to be able to benefit from the thousands of books on display in different languages.

Raad Taha Hussain, an Iraqi legal advisor, living in Abu Dhabi, said the book fair this year presents the opportunity through symposiums to discuss important issues on politics and culture in addition to the ‘Cook Show’. “I think it is better to extend the fair for another week”, he said.

Hadef Al Khaili, a 12th grade Emirati student, said, “I like reading, particularly about the history of Arabs and Islamic culture.”

“This year, the section I most liked was the ‘Traditional Books Section’ introduced at the fair for the first time”, he said. Nader Mubarak, an Emirati youth, said, “I like to read Nabati poetry in addition to heritage and anthropology.” The second day of the fair saw thousands of students visiting the stalls.

Aysha Sayed, a 10-year-old Egyptian, said she likes to read about birds and ducks. She added, “I like these kind of books so much.” Nine-year-old Wafaa Faisal from Al Rahaba School said, “I like to buy booklets about games.”
