Abu Dhabi Education Zone Tops in Shaikh Hamdan Award

ABU DHABI - The Abu Dhabi Education Zone (Adez) has won the top slot among the educations zones at the Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Award for Education Excellence, bagging 33 prizes, according to a senior official.

Mohammad Salim Al Dhaheri, Director-General of Adez, said after the announcement of the results in Dubai on Wednesday that Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) came second with 27 prizes and Al Ain zone third with 17 prizes.

The Sharjah educational zone won 14 prizes, Ras Al Khaimah nine, Al Gharbia (Western Region) seven and Umm Al Quwain three.

Al Dhaheri added the prizes won by Adez were for developing the education process and administration in the schools and their activities.

Dr Khaleed Al Ebri, Head of Education Sector, Adez, said two public schools from Abu Dhabi city together won 33 prizes.

Fatima Al Haj Al Qubaisi, Administrator of Family Development Organisation School in Al Wathba (girls), told Khaleej Times, “We try all the time to meet the standards of excellence by developing the education process in the school. We work on improving our activities and developing teaching methods as per the standards set by the Ministry of Education.”
