Curtains to Come Down on DSF Today

DUBAI - After a month long of exciting potpourri of entertainment, discounts and offers, the DSF comes to a successful closing ceremony today.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place in the Four Seasons Golf Club, Dubai Festival Center at 7:30pm.

Even in these trying economic times, the festival picked up fast momentum from after a quiet opening ceremony keeping the people of Gaza in mind, on January 15.

Hotspots in this DSF included the Walk in the Jumeirah Beach Residences, Al Seef Street, the Chinese State Circus at the Dubai Festival Center, the Mashreq Sky Adventures in the Al Marmoom Desert Reserve and the various other centres filled with fun activities.

For those residents who have missed out on some of the major DSF festivities can still head to the Global Village, which will remain open for another week. In its last week for this season, thousands more of people are expected to take advantage of the activities in the Global Village.

Some of these include the Guinness World Records Pavilion, shows at the World Culture Stage, the Skywheel Stunt Show, the ARN radio broadcasts and the competition prizes to name a few, are attractions to look out for.

The immense popularity of the Chinese State Circus has led the organisers to continue the event till March 1.

The circus is taking place at the Dubai Festival Center grounds and for those of you who think they have missed out on the breathtaking acrobatics, can now head to Dubai Festival Center.

Mother of Dessert Buffets Takes the Cake

From the acrobatic extravaganzas of the Chinese State Circus, to the colourful carnivals and unbeatable promotional offers, the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) is coming to a sticky sweet end when a record was broken to create the biggest dessert buffet.

This scrumptious feat took place in uptown Mirdiff where no less than 2,232 delicious desserts from all over the world were prepared as part of the Dubai Food Festival on Friday, February 13.

Organised by the Emirates Culinary Guild, chefs from over 40 hotels and restaurants all over the UAE worked to complete the task.

Ibrahim Saleh, Coordinator General of DSF Office, handed over the ‘Dubai Records’ certificate and trophy to chef Uwe Micheel, Director of Kitchens at Radisson SAS, Dubai Deira Creek. Officials from the Guinness Book of World Records were also present to verify the record attempt.
