Increase Salary Limit for Family Visa: FNCs

DABU DHABI - The Federal National Council (FNC), on Tuesday proposed to increase the minimum monthly salary required to sponsor families from Dh4,000 to Dh10,000 for those without company accommodation and from Dh3,000 to Dh8,000 for those who have company accommodation.

The proposal was made during a discussion on Ministry of Labour’s proposed amendments to Ministerial Decree No. 4 of 1994 regarding the sponsorship of families by expatriate employees.

To prevent tampering with the salary certificate, it proposed that six months’ salary certificate or a year’s bank statement showing that the salary has been transferred regularly to the applicant’s account should be produced.

The FNC also recommended increasing the minimum salary required for bringing in domestic servants by expatriates from Dh6,000 to Dh15,000 and hiking the fees to Dh7,000.
