Fun and Folklore at Al Qasba

SHARJAH - Al Qasba, Sharjah’s family entertainment and cultural centre, is a place to visit during the Eid holidays. On the opening day there were shows and exciting events and, many of the visitors were entertained by clowns and traditional folklore from Yemen, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq.

The celebrations will reach its climax on Tuesday and the events will go on till midnight. A cross-section of the attendees had differing views when talked to them.

Maher Al Sheriff, from Fujairah said that at a time of harsh economic realities, this is the best and most economic place to spend your time with family members.

Nesrine Ahmad from Abu Dhabi said: “I had never been to Al Qasba before. My family is enjoying the outing, we had just had a ride on the Abra, that took us round the corniche and its really fun and the cost is reasonable.”  “I don’t think there is a much fun-loving place for the family, then this spot, we love it,” said Nisha Kutty.

Dina Al Nakhi, events manager of Al Qasba Development Authority said: “All activities have been planned for people of all age groups including children, and we have brought the best to them. Families are enjoying the Eid celebrations, since it started at this fun-loving venue.”

And while the adults enjoyed the festive moods, the children also had a great time at the supervised children’s area and also at the face-painting corner. A chain of restaurants along the canal offered cuisines from around the globe.

The ride on the breath-taking Etisalat-Eye of the Emirates giant wheel, the highest of its kind in the region and the Abra are of great entertainment value.

Etisalat and Nasser bin Abdulatif Al Sarkal Bridgestone have jointly sponsored the Eid Al Adha celebrations 2008.
