Dubai-Abu Dhabi Luxury Coach Trip to Cost More

DUBAI - Better services always come at a higher price. Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) luxury coaches that are to be put into service between Dubai and Abu Dhabi will see higher fares than what the commuters pay for now.

Senior officials of the Public Transport Agency said the fares of these new buses will be fixed at Dh25 per trip, that is, Dh10 more than the present rate.

In addition to this, officials said the buses will be divided into two classes — First Class and Luxury.

However, the ticket rates for both types of coaches will be the same, officials said.

Speaking to Issa Al Dossari, the CEO of the Public Transport Agency said the First Class buses will have 46 seats and the Luxury version 28.

“In addition to these buses, the services of which will start soon, we plan to ply as many as 70 double decker buses on the Dubai-Sharjah route in the future. Currently, there are 41 such buses operating in the route,” he said.

In a talk with earlier, senior department official said a total of 55 coaches will be plying on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi route starting next year.

Two of these buses have already arrived in Dubai, officials had said.

These buses will be specious and will consist of facilities like toilets, Internet access and comfortable seats like those in the Business Class of flights.

Though officials had said 10 of these buses will carry passengers from Dubai to the Abu Dhabi International airport and back, Dossari said that the matter is still being finalised.

These buses are expected to run between the Al Gubaiba Bus Station to the Abu Dhabi Bus Station.

There is also a plan to run some of these buses to Al Ain as well.

Talking about the double decker buses, Dossari said that running these buses on the local Dubai routes was a matter under discussion for the moment.

“We had signed two contracts for various kinds of buses in Dubai. The first contract involved a total of 620 buses, out of which 170 are double deckers. The second contract calls for the supply of 1,616 buses, out of which 717 are double deckers,” the official said.
