Dedicated Agency to Handle Visa Applications

ABU DHABI — A dedicated company has been hired by the Department of Naturalisation and Residency at the Ministry of Interior for typing applications for residence visas and other related transactions, beginning with Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in April.

The service will be extended to other emirates gradually by September, Brigadier Nasser Al Awadhi Al Minhali, Acting Director General of the Naturalisation and Residency Department, told on Monday.

The existing typing centres will cease to provide visa application typing services in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain from April and in the rest of the country from September. “The aim of entrusting one company, affiliated to the department, for completing the residence visa and other related application forms, is to cut and unify the typing charges countrywide, and end the problem of discrepancy in the fees charged by the typing centres,” he said.

He said that the work of the company will be within the framework of the services the ministry provides to the public, and not for achieving profits as is the case with the private typing centres.

“The move is also designed to eliminate the problem of errors which are repeated much of the time by these centres,” he said, adding that several typing centres charge extra for typing new applications forms when errors are made. Some of the centres also deduct the salary of the staff members who made the mistake, he said.

“A number of typing centres exploit the applicants by taking money from them against transactions that the Department has rejected for not complying with the conditions of entry or residence visa.”
